Ferrari s/n: 1010

Ferrari s/n: 1010 is one of the few cars that had several "suits", read bodies on the same chassis. The last one was as a 1974 Ferrari 712 that only raced in Watkins Glen Can-Am. A model of it exists in 1/43 but when it shows, it is usually over $200 US, so I decided to buy a 1972 Ferrari 712 from the "Ferrari Racing Collection" for $29.95 US and convert it.
The photo sequence is:
1 - Ferrari 712 (1974) racing at Watkins Glen.
2 - 1972 Ferrari 712 by "Ferrari Racing Collection".
3 - 1st cut, remove what does not go with the 1974 model.
4 - 2nd cut, install the aluminium pieces to do the conversion.
5 - Filling with epoxy
6 - The 1974 Ferrari 712 complete and primed.
7 - After the red paint and the decals

Ford Mirage M2 built from a Ford Mirage M3/300

This Ford Mirage M3/300 was modified by me from the original Politoys with Ref.: E15 was used as the basis for building a Ford Mirage M2, but as this car was a closed version instead of a spyder (M3/300) then the roof and the windshield of a Ferrari 512 M was used.
The modifications started by cutting the roof, the windshield outline and the back cowling shape for the rear window from the Ferrari 512 M. Next cut and file the roof as required, to fit the bottom shape of the Ferrari roof to the top of the Mirage M3 and remove the imperfections of the casting.
Next was to remove the paint, fit the top to the body and remove the imperfections of the casting.
Next was to fit the top to the main body, fill with epoxy where required, install headlights and wheels.
The other modifications included, opening the sills for the headlights and add headlights. Make the side air ducts for the entry to the side radiators because the originals were simply big holes with no duct and finally replace the crude original wheels.
After painting and adding the decals, the final result is the Ford Mirage M2 s/n: 02 (built by John Wyer) that raced at the 1969 Nürburgring 1000km (the only race that the M2 used a Ford engine all others were with a BRM engine) with #8 pilots being J. Ickx and Jackie Oliver dnf - retired due to a front wishbone failure; Grid=8th (8:24.100)

Ford Mirage M3/300

This Ford Mirage M3/300 was modified by me as the original Polistil with Ref.: E15 was a very crude representation of the real car.
The modifications included, replacing the black plastic of the headlights for a proper sill with headlights. Also replace all the plastic front bottom end by similar shape with epoxy and install bigger metal side air deflectors. Make the side air ducts for the entry to the side radiators as the original were simply big holes with no duct and finally replace the crude original wheels.
After the filing, polishing, painting and adding the decals, the final result is the Ford Mirage M3/300 s/n: 002/301 (made by John Wyer) that won the 1969 Imola 500 with #4 driven by J. Ickx with an average speed of 150.5 km/h, Grid=1st .

Porsche 917/10 normally aspirated from a 917/10 TC

This Porsche 917/10 normally aspirated modified by me was originally made by Solido with Ref. 18 as a Porsche 917/10 turbo charged that raced at the 1972 Laguna Seca #7 with George Follmer Team: Penske 1st OA. The original Solido model is depicted next:
To convert it to the model that raced at the 1971 Road America I had to remove the rear wing, open the central part of the rear cowling showing the top of the engine and instal a small deflector at rear end of the cowling, also install rear braces for the roll cage, instal a small deflector in the front and modify the front fenders.
But the first thing to do is to do the cuts and the filling:
The next thing to do is to fill-up the front fenders and the top rear end of the rear cowling plus file the excess epoxy:
The next thing to do is to paint it:
Then the final result is the car, Porsche 917/10 normally aspirated s/n: 917/10-002 that raced at the 1971 Road America with #20, driven by Jo Siffert Team: STP / Porsche-Audi / Marlboro 2nd OA
Engine was, Flat 12cyl DOHC 4998 cc 630 hp at 8300 rpm 425 ft.lb at 6400 rpm compression ratio=10.5:1 Bosch F.I. 4 speed gearbox 743 kg.

Porsche 935/76 configuration 2 from 1

This Porsche 935/76 modified by me was originally made by Luso-toys with Ref. M8-b as a Porsche 935/76 low nose that raced at the 1976 Mugello 6 hr with #4. The original Luso-toys model is depicted next:
To convert it to the model that raced at Vallelunga in 1976 that had near vertical headlamp housings because Jochen Mass felt that the slant nose configuration was giving too much front down force, so for the second race at Vallelunga the old headlights were re-installed.
Then the final result is the car, Porsche 935/76 s/n: R15. 935 002 (converted Porsche 930/72 s/n: 930 670 0002 ) that raced at Vallelunga in 1976 #1 Gr.:5 with Jacky Ickx and Jochen Mass 1st OA 270 laps 143.8km/h Grid=1st
Engine was, flat 6cyl sohc turbo 2856cc 590 hp at 7900 rpm 434 lb.ft at 5400 rpm CR=6.5:1 340 km/h accel 0 to 100 km/h = 3.3 sec 970kg

Ferrari 512S Spyder CanAm made from a Ferrari 512 S berlinetta

This Ferrari 512S Spyder CanAm modified by me was originally made by Brumm with Ref. R200 as a Ferrari 512S berlinetta that raced at Daytona in 1970 with #28. The original Brumm model is depicted next:
First step, remove all non metalic parts,
Second step, cut the roof and the rear vertical air straitners,
Third step, Remove paint and reshape the rear end below the aileron including cutting wide the low opening,
Fourth step, fill-up the rear top opening, install the new vertical air straiteners and extend the right and left rear ailerons, also install the new engine cover with an opening for the periscope ram air intake. At this time the ram air intake, the rear exhausts are painted and the top shape for the rear layout is also cut.
Fifth step, fill-up with epoxy all 3 headlight sills, the top of the rear cowling, the engine cover and the 2 air exit ducts from the engine compartment,
Sixth step, remove all the excess epoxy and polish all the metal parts plus remove all metal moulding joints,
Seveth step, install the rear side mirrors and paint the model with primer,
Eighth step, paint it red,
Now, next is the final resulting model representing the Ferrari 512S Spyder s/n: 1006 that raced at the 1970 CanAm Mid Ohio with #20 Team NART driven by Pedro Rodriguez dnf (engine failure) did 70/80 laps being 11th OA, Grid: 5th (1:30.400).
Engine: V12cyl. dohc 4994 cc, 4vpc, 550 hp at 8500 rpm, 371 ft.lb at 5500 rpm, 340 km/h, 5sp gearbox, 880 kg, 25 built (total of 512’s).
